DAVID PAUL

The early years

David Paul was born David Sterriker in Leeds, United Kingdom, on November 5th, 1958. Growing up in Leeds, a young David studied the piano, and his voice could be heard as a soloist with the York Philharmonic Male Voice Choir with whom he sang for some years. He became heavily involved in early school productions working with the AMDRAM Theatre and grew up with a love of music and performing.

David’s first step toward becoming a professional singer was taken at a talent contest held at London's Apollo Theater. An inspired David brought swing into his singing, which can be heard in his recordings. David’s forte is music from the “Swing era” of the 1930s and 1940s, and music from such luminaries as Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Sarah Vaughan, as well as more recent artists.

The Present

Eventually relocating to Madeira for some years, he is currently performing at numerous venues in Portugal where he now resides with his wife Delene. David is frequently invited to perform in the UK and Europe at major hotels, venues and private functions.

You can often catch him at his home in the Algarve performing with other like minded musicians at the “Barn Sessions”, in his converted barn which is complete with a stage and a large comfortable lounge area. He is currently in the recording studio working with Producer and Composer Mike Myers, on several tracks for his forthcoming album which is due for release in early 2023.
