David is a singer, whose skillset is quite impressive. He also plays keyboards and guitar. Whilst he is the first to admit that he is not an accomplished pianist or guitarist, he is far more capable than his modesty allows. First and foremost however, he is an honest and natural singer who is deft at phrasing and a master of swing. Sometimes that means starting or stopping a quarter or half a beat off of the written note or extending a phrase. Despite what the composer has written, David is always able to convey what the lyricist's intention is. Swing is about the delivery, the power, the message and the richness of the voice.
